The plain-language statement of what BuildBids is, what it is not, and where responsibility sits.

BuildBids is an introduction platform

BuildBids is a marketplace that connects homeowners with independent contractors. BuildBids does not perform, supervise, manage, guarantee or warrant construction work.

What BuildBids is not

BuildBids is not a general contractor, builder, tradesperson, construction manager, project manager, architect, designer, engineer, inspector, escrow agent, payment intermediary for construction funds, insurer, warranty provider, lender or employment agency.

No party to your contract

Any agreement for construction work is formed directly between the homeowner and the contractor. BuildBids is not a party to that agreement, does not review it and has no obligations or liability under it.

No construction funds

BuildBids collects only its own contractor success fee. It never holds deposits, progress payments, holdbacks or any construction funds, and it does not guarantee payment to a contractor or refunds to a homeowner.

Verification is not a guarantee

Verification badges are screening signals based on information supplied by contractors and third parties. They are not an endorsement or guarantee of performance, workmanship, licensing, solvency or project completion.

Measurements and site conditions

Information and measurements are provided by the homeowner and should be independently verified by contractors before entering into a construction agreement.

Where BuildBids' role ends

BuildBids' marketplace service for a project is complete once the selected contractor pays the applicable platform success fee and the parties are connected. Everything after that — contracting, scheduling, payment, performance, warranty and dispute resolution — is between the homeowner and the contractor.
